First impressions of this place weren’t
the greatest. We arrived at 12.30pm (midday) which we were told was during
siesta. I never thought people could take siesta so seriously. Everything was
shut until 3pm. Anyway, we couldn’t check in until 2pm (standard) so wandered
the empty and very quiet streets in the meantime. We took a little walk around
the lake, which is quite dirty and smelly – and contains salmonella (as told by
our Busabout guide, so strictly no swimming in it). Finally got to check in and
were pleasantly surprised by the standard of our hostel. I had been told by a
few people that Italian hostels are never the best or cleanest for that matter.
And considering we are paying less then 50euros a night, I was really expecting
something rather dreadful.
But this is amazing. Rooms are air conditioned, beds and
linen are clean etc. I’ll spare you my OCD details on cleanliness, but I’m sure
you get the picture. Definitely recommend this hostel to anyone who comes this
way.
Day 2, we decided to take a 1hr boat ride to Bellagio – and are so glad we did. This little town is just so beautiful and SO much better then Lake Como. Photos below will explain much better then I ever could. We had a great day there and spent the afternoon at what the beach.
Next stop, Nice – Can’t wait for this part of the world and to see where my heritage is from.
xx
