Being in Nice really feels like we’re on holidays. Being
beach, sun and sea lovers, we are right where we belong.
After getting miserably lost trying to find our hostel once
getting off the bus (some Australian lady gave us directions which were the
complete wrong way) Anyway, after walking for about an hour with all our bags,
we finally arrived and were told that we could have gone ‘this way’ and it
would have taken no longer then 10 minutes! Lesson learnt.
We went exploring the streets once we were settled in and
found that Nice during this time of the year, is at its busiest. Streets filled
with people only beginning to dine at 10pm. It’s such a different lifestyle.
But so amazing... The sun only sets at 9.30pm which makes the days seem like
they are endless.
Today we took a walk along ‘La Promenades des Anglais’ and
fell in love with the scenery. See pictures below. We went up the ‘Coline du
Chateau’ which gives an amazing view of the coast line. Walking back, we just
had to stop at the beach, the turquoise colour of the water here is just too
inviting to miss it. We spent a few hours there and I think Blake was
pleasantly surprised, entertained, and pleased with the amount of topless women
walking around. Kept him busy while I perved on the spunky Mediterranean men in
their speedos ;)
We finished our afternoon with some much needed shopping,
Blake got a new pair of shoes as his feet just couldn’t take another day of
walking around in Havis. ‘Oh Darling’!!! We went into Zara... of course and
then found some cute little Vietnamese restaurant and had none other then Pho.
Not too bad, but not as great as the one Nathalie took us to in Paris. Then to
finish our day... we ventured into the Old Town of Nice and found the one and
only “Finocchios”... an ice-creamery/gelato maker that has no less then 100
different flavours! You name it, this place had it. From Bounty, to Lavender,
from Lychee, to Apricot... from Tomato & Basil to Ginger bread, seriously,
they were all there. Blake went for Apricot and I had Lychee and Passionfruit
combo. Amazing is an understatement! We are going back there tomorrow... Maybe
for breakfast and dinner. And lunch!
Tomorrow is our last day here and we’re planning to take the
train to Monaco and see what the fuss is all about. No doubt we will be in awe
at all of its’ beauty – You can apparently pay to drive a Ferrari – Blake of
course wants to do it. I figure why not... if he does that, I’m sure he’ll be
on a high and I can get my Hermes bracelet once we’re back in Paris ;)
So – keep posted, I’ll update you tomorrow night with some
Monaco goodness.
Till then xx
