Bern was an amazing place we both would love to get back to.
We were lucky enough to be there whilst the ‘Buskers Bern Festival’ was on.
From about 4pm in the afternoon to all hours of the morning, the streets are
filled with buskers of all types, food and drink stalls and entertainers
walking the streets constantly setting up a new little spot to do ‘their
thing’.
The city is quite small and surrounded by an amazing river
with the colour so blue it makes you want to jump in... after feeling the temperature
(18 degrees to be exact), one would rethink. But we had to try it. The current
flows so quick and hard through this river, that people actually walk up from
where they are, jump in and get out a few hundreds of metres down the river
where they left their belongings. Such a trusting and safe feeling place, and
everyone was very friendly.
On our 2nd day there, we discovered what seemed
to be the equivalent of Bondi in Bern... but along a river. There is a public
pool, surrounded by grass – and that is where everyone goes to catch some rays.
So we spent our last day there in an attempt to save a little bit of money as
Switzerland although beautiful, is a little on the expensive side.
On our way back from Bern’s Bondi, Blake discovered 2 things
which I’m sure everyone will hear about when we get back... Something he named
“bungee surfing” and “slack rope walking”... I’ll let your imagination run wild
on what they might be(although will have some photos of the latter) – and will
let Blake explain what the 1st is. Quite interesting.
We really loved Bern and hope to get back there one day
xx
